Brunswick Family Assistance (BFA) is a private, nonprofit (501) (c)(3) that has been providing essential life-sustaining and emergency assistance to people in crisis since 1981. Our Mission is to improve the lives of families and individuals in crisis in Brunswick County, who are willing to help themselves, by providing emergency assistance and educational and skills development programs.
We envision a community where all people have access to an adequate supply of food and sufficient resources to sustain themselves.
BFA provides a wide range of coordinated programs and services—food, housing assistance and emergency shelter, financial assistance for heating, utilities, medical prescriptions, and transportation—designed to have a measurable impact on people’s lives.
In 2023, Brunswick Family Assistance touched approximately 36% of the lives in Brunswick County by providing various resources and assistance to those living 130% below the poverty line. Within the year of 2023, BFA provided 386,950.87 lbs. of food, impacting 11,800 households or 37,177 individuals, through the selfless, dedicated efforts and the generosity of our donors, such as yourself.

How can I help?
BFA is always collecting food for our emergency food pantry, providing food to hungry Brunswick County households. The increasing cost of groceries and utilities, as well as the fallout from the recent pandemic, have caused a dramatic increase in demand for services.
You can help us feed the less fortunate by donating non-perishables and unopened food items. Please see the list provided for our pantry’s highest needs.
