Brunswick Family Assistance is pleased to announce new sessions of our Financial Literacy Class, for February 2017 and March 2017.
The February 2017 class will be held at the Leland branch of the Brunswick County Library in Leland, NC. Held in two sessions, the classes are Tuesday, February 21st and Tuesday, February 28th from 12pm – 2pm.
The March 2017 class will be held at Trinity Church in Southport, NC. Sessions are scheduled for Thursday, March 23rd and Thursday, March 30th from 10am – 12pm.
The Financial Literacy Program consists of two modules taken from the FDIC Money Smart Financial Education Program. Each class is 90 minutes. Classes are taught by representatives from area financial institutions and organizations.
The program helps participants manage and make smart choices with their money, set financial goals, and develop financial understanding. Topics include tracking income and expenses, spending priorities, and household budgeting. BFA Clients who complete both modules will receive a $35 credit towards their electric bill.
The Financial Literacy Program goes to the core of BFA’s mission of helping those in financial crisis who are willing to help themselves by providing emergency assistance. By learning money management tips and strategies, we are hopeful our clients will be able to strengthen their family financial situation. We believe this program will be a win-win for all involved: BFA clients, our community, and financial institutions.
