Rick Mazur is the proverbial golden goose behind several local fundraisers. Mazur works with the Brunswick County Association of Realtors to raise money for its Bucks for Bikes program. The funds go to purchase bicycles for those receiving services from Brunswick Family Assistance Agency in Shallotte.read more
UNCW graduate Stephanie Bowen opens the door to the Brunswick Family Assistance Agency every morning before 9 a.m. After that, Bowen takes off in whatever direction the nonprofit organization needs her to go that day. The 26-year-old Leland native was named BFA executive director in September 2016.read more
The Ocean Isle Beach Flotilla held the Saturday evening after Thanksgiving (November 26, 2016) raised just under $20,000!! The proceeds were donated to Brunswick Family Assistance to help individuals and families in crisis in Brunswick County.read more

A study by UNCW’s Quality Enhancement for Nonprofit Organizations (QENO) was conducted last April and recommends ways to improve the BFA thrift store. On April 18, Andy Atkinson and Kerri Erb with UNCW/QENO met with BFA staff, former BFA board chairman Ken Papaj and former BFA executive director Fred Stephens.read more
